Party craft activity

Make-Your-Own Treasure Map

A calm, seated craft — kids color in their own pirate treasure map, complete with an "X marks the spot." A treasure map is core pirate-party imagery, and a quiet coloring table is a good complement to the more hands-on hat-decorating and spyglass-building activities.

What you'll need

From around the house

  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils

How to do it

  1. Give each child a blank treasure map sheet.
  2. Set out crayons or markers for coloring.
  3. Let kids color in the islands, sea, and "X" however they like.
  4. Finished maps make a fun take-home souvenir, or can be rolled up like a scroll with ribbon.
