Party craft activity

Build-Your-Own Cardboard Vehicle

A genuine building activity — kids use safe, reusable cardboard construction tools to build their own truck, crane, or whatever they imagine. Building is the core fantasy of a construction party — this lets kids actually construct something with real (if kid-safe) tools, a genuinely different kind of hands-on than the truck-painting table.

Build-Your-Own Cardboard Vehicle

What you'll need

From around the house

  • A few clean cardboard boxes — cereal boxes, shipping boxes — the kit provides the connecting tools, not the cardboard itself

How to do it

  1. Set out a pile of clean cardboard pieces and the construction tools.
  2. Show kids how to use the safety screws and driver to join two pieces of cardboard.
  3. Let kids build freely — a truck, a garage, anything construction-themed.
  4. Finished builds can join the party's construction-zone display for the rest of the day.

Adult supervision

Recommended — the tools are designed to be kid-safe (no sharp points), but younger kids may want help getting joints started.

Safety note: The kit's connectors are rounded and hand-turned, not sharp — safer than scissors or box cutters for this kind of project, but still worth an adult nearby for first-timers.
